What is ZERONA?

ZERONA is a completely new way to treat difficult-to-remove fatty areas of the body. It uses a powerful cool-laser technology to encourage fat cells to release the fatty tissue, allowing your body to dispose of it in a natural way. Both overall weight loss and loss of inches in specific problem areas are possible with the completely non-invasive laser treatment.

Who is a candidate for ZERONA?

Since ZERONA is non-invasive to the body, many individuals who are unable to undergo surgery may be candidates for ZERONA. Often, ZERONA is most effective when used in patients who are already leading healthy lives and are seeking weight loss in particular problem areas, or in clients who would like ZERONA to motivate their new commitment to healthy exercise and diet by hastening their intial weight loss efforts. It's important to discuss your individual situation and eligibility with your healthcare professional.

What type of fat does the ZERONA work on?

Well, in humans there are two regions that adipose tissue is located, subcutaneously and viscerally. Subcutaneous fat resides directly beneath the skin while visceral fat is found in the peritoneal cavity around the internal organs.
The ZERONA laser targets the subcutaneous fat layer. So in general ..... it is the soft, squishy fat that is treatable with the ZERONA laser. To do an at home test.... simple put your arms extended away from your sides, contract your abdominal muscles, then pinch the mid-section region... observe the firmness. If it tough or firm to pinch, then it may be visceral fat, if it is soft and mushy..... it is ZERONA ready! If you are unclear, please come in for the free consultation. We don't apply any pressure and there is no obligation on your part. We would rather pinch your fat and tell you for sure if the fat you have is appropriate for the ZERONA laser.

What is the process from the beginning?

First is the consultation, to ensure candidacy, then if you choose to have the ZERONA procedure done, you will meet with our Physician, Dr. Marri for a Medical Evaluation as required by Washington State law. Per your health history you will start the supplement CURVA, and be on that for 1 week prior to ZERONA sessions, then you come in 3 times a week for 2 weeks, every other day, all the while you stop alcohol consumption, and eat a healthy balanced diet, and exercise 30 minutes per day. We will do a photo and measurements on the first session, and again on the 6th session, then we wait 1 week and do a follow up measurement and photo.

Who is not a good candidate for ZERONA?

Individuals who are medically obese or are not prepared to live a healthy lifestyle during and after their ZERONA treatment may not be good candidates. Since ZERONA doesn't remove fat cells, it is possible that the cells "emptied" by the ZERONA procedure could potentially "fill up" again with fatty tissue later- which is why a commitment to the health is important to ZERONA's long term success. In addition, if you are pregnant or wear a pacemaker you may not be a good candidate for ZERONA.

Do you offer Free Consultations?

Absolutely, why would you want to pay for a consultation when you don't even know about the procedure or if you are good candidate. This appointment is free, and you are not obligated to purchase a package. It is simply a meeting to get information, ensure you are a good candidate, and give you a formal quote (our quotes are valid for 30 days, so you can take your time and think it over with your significant other). Due to the amount of time we schedule for the consultations, we just ask that you call us if you are unable to make the appointment, so we can assist another client in helping them with their needs.

What is the treatment like?

Actual ZERONA Treatment Room

Once you're ready to receive a ZERONA treatment, you will schedule 6, 40 minute treatment sessions over a two-week period with your specialist. During these painless procedures, you will remove clothing down to underwear or bathing suit (your desire, however laser will not work through clothing, so less is best), you will lay down on a warmed bed in a private room as the cool laser shines on (but never actually touches) the skin over your target areas. The laser will open temporarily, small pores in the membrane around each fat cell, liquefying the fatty tissue inside and allowing it to escape into the interstitial area of the body. Your body will then absorb, metabolize, and eliminate the fat through the lymphatic system. At Aesthetic Laser and Skin, we also include lymphatic massage of the treatment areas to help speed this process. The fat cells are unharmed through this process, and once relieved of the tissue they contained they shrink in size, reducing the mass of your problem areas. Will the treatment be painful?

No, ZERONA is gentle and non-invasive, so no pain is felt during or after the treatment period. Some of our clients mention feeling a light tickle, or tingling sensation during their treatments. They have all liked this feeling as it makes them more aware that something is happening, and more motivated to follow the program without varying.

What can I expect of the recovery process?

ZERONA doesnt require any recovery time because it is non-invasive and doesn't damage your tissues- so nothing needs to heal. There shouldn't be any negative side effects during or after the treatment process that would limit your daily activities, however your specialist may recommend that you stay well hydrated and may prescribe dietary supplements to provide support to the lymphatic system.

When will I see results?

The results of your treatment will begin to show about a week after you have begun the treatments sessions.

Does everyone get results?

Not everyone is a good candidate, we try our best when reviewing your history as to ascertain the type of fat you have, what type of lifestyle you live (being diet, exercise, supplements, stress, etc) to ensure you will be able to maintain the results you receive.
The makers of ZERONA state that 5% of clients will be non-responders. Therefore 95% percent will get results if they follow the program.

What will the long-term results be like?

Your long-term results will depend on your lifestyle. Because ZERONA empties fat cells rather than taking them out of the body, there is a possibility that the cells could become filled with fat again. Exercising and eating a balanced diet are key elements of maintaining your successful results.

Are there any risks involved?

ZERONA requires no anesthetic, incisions, or dermal trauma- so there are no true risks associated with it. If your a pregnant or wear a pacemaker there are complications that could result from treatment with ZERONA that you should discuss with your specialist.

Will I need more than one treatment?

Six treatment sessions on the same body area are required and are financed together in a package, to be performed over the course of two weeks. Each session will take around 50 minutes. ( 20 minutes on front side, 20 minutes on back side,and 10 minutes for lymphatic massage). We do offer extended treatment packages for clients that would like to do more than the six sessions, or would like to focus on other areas such as the neck and chest, or the thighs. Historically, our clients will start with a series of 6 on the abdomen, then once they see the results..... come back and get another package of 6 or 9 to target other specific areas. We do offer a discounted 12 treatment package, and this can be split into 2 areas...maybe 6 on the abdomen and 6 on the neck, or use all 12 on the abdomen to maximize your results.

Is ZERONA approved for use in the USA?

Yes. ZERONA was recently approved by the FDA for the safe emulsification (liquefy) of fat and reduce overall weight. It has been used for some time to aid in liquefying the fat prior to liposuction.

Will insurance cover this treatment?

No, as is similar with other cosmetic procedures, ZERONA is not usually covered under major insurance providers. However, we do offer financing options for this procedure.

What are the costs associated with ZERONA?

The six treatment process, with the Lymphatic massage post each session is $2400. We do offer a cash discount, and VIP member discount as well. Financing the procedure is another option, which spreads the cost out over 12 months, with no interest. So, to finance $2400. The monthly minimum payment would be $96 a month, but you would need to pay $200 a month, to avoid finance charges after 12 months. There are no pre-payment penalties, so we have had some clients that will finance this procedure, making the minimum monthly payments then, pay it off with their income tax return, or bonus they know they are receiving. It is flexible, you do have options, and we will discuss every option at your free consultation.

Are there any guarantee of results?

We do have a "Best Results" program. If you choose to do this program, you would be required to take part in the Ideal Protein weight management protocol. When choosing this "Best Results" program, we are able to offer a Limited Guarantee of results. This Limited Guarantee means that if you do NOT lose the minimum recommended inches in that specified time period, or sessions... . then Aesthetic Laser and Skin will retreat you for free. We know it can be daunting spending money in this economy, and want our clients to know that we are committed to their results. However, we cant control what each person does outside of our office. We have clients that will have a hamburger on the way to their ZERONA treatment..... obviously this will not produce the optimum results, therefore we can only guarantee results when the client chooses and participates in the "Best Results" program. Is it necessary or recommended to wear compression garments while getting ZERONA treatments?

It is not mandatory, however we have seen an increase in overall results from clients that used a compression garment during their treatments. It was worn for waking hours post each session. It is believed that once the fat has been secreted from the cell and after our lymphatic massage that the compression garment helps to keep the cell empty. Due to the results we have seen with clients using the compression garment, it is recommended. They can be purchased at our office at any time.

What is this "Curva" supplement I am hearing about?

CURVA™ contains a unique blend of active ingredients designed to assist the body in removing and properly processing fat released during ZERONA® treatments. Once released, the fatty material is absorbed by lymphatic vessels and transported to local lymph nodes. From there, the material is released into the circulatory system so the debris can be safely processed by the liver.

What else do I need to know before starting the ZERONA sessions?

Well, each clinic does things a little differently... At Aesthetic Laser and Skin, first we would like you to meet for a consultation, it is free. We want to make sure you are a good candidate and educate you on the procedure as well as find out what your expectations are and give you all the financial options we have available. Should you be a good candidate, and desire to start ZERONA treatments, we will discuss the following (some you can start prior to your consult).

~Hydration- this is important for elimination of the fat that has been leaked from the fat cell. Staying well hydrated stimulates your lymphatic system to pump out the secreted fat. It also aids in the digestive system to work more smoothly.

~Supplementation- Starting 1 week prior to the ZERONA sessions, you will be placed on a niacin based supplement. Niacin is a water soluable vitamin whose derivatives such as NADH play essential roles in energy metabolism in the living cell and DNA repair. During metabolic reactions such as fatty acid oxidation and glycolysis, NAD+ serves as an oxidizing agent, oxidizing certain compounds can lead to the breakdown of fats and carbohydrates, which ultimately can lead to the production of ATP (energy). So niacin helps to oxidize the fat and makes it easier to get it out of the body versus getting re-absorbed by the cell. Niacin is also a vasodilator . Vasodilation is the dilation and expansion of blood vessels (veins, arteries). With the relaxation and dilation of nearby blood vessels, it is possible for the fatty acids and triglycerides sitting in the extra-cellular space to be absorbed into the blood stream rather than reabsorbed by the adipocyte cell. A normal response to Niacin is a flushing or itching of the extremities, face, and chest. If it is bothersome, it is advised to contact our office right away.

~ Diet- Just because you do the ZERONA laser treatment, is not permission to eat junk food, it is a waste of your time and money. This laser works, but you have to work too! We have a program that can be utilized at the same time as the ZERONA treatments, and is extremely effective. You aren't hungry, and have lots of energy.....what else could be better?

~Lymphatic Massage- this is a very gentle light massage. This helps fluid, or in this case, the fat, that is out of your cells waiting to be picked up and eliminated. Having this after the ZERONA laser treatment is a great treatment, and relaxing. We offer this at no additional charge to our clients participating in any of our ZERONA packages.
